Well, I told the Universe that I wanted to go pumpkin picking with my family this weeked...because odds are, I'll be a little busy with the giving birth and having a new born to walk around for hours in an orchard shleping gords around next week and any time in the next few...so if it didn't happen NOW, it wasn't going to happen for me. I was prepared to send Rob and Gabriel off so the Boo could have his adventures, but of course, I really really wanted to be part of it, what with it being my FAVORITE season and all and one of my FAVORITE outings of the year.
Then the rain started.
It rained and rained and rained. ALL DAY SATURDAY.
Forecast for Sunday: RAIN.
SIGH.
We decide to go into "Concord City" to shop for a new washing machine, just in case our last resort fix it guy cannot help us, and as we're driving Rob points out that it's "not raining!" SO...CHANGE OF PLANS!
We head SOUTH and off to MACK'S APPLE FARM!
We went to the main farmstand and bought corn, mums, apple cider (that they make themselves) and cider donuts (mmmm!) We also grabbed a few delicious pears that they were sampling in the barn. SO good...we were already munching before we got back in the car to head down the road to where the pumpkin patch/ apple orchard is.
And then we saw the pumpkin patch
We walked to the pumpkin patch and couldn't believe how HUGE they are! All the rain must have really plumped up the crops this year.
Gabriel ran off with Daddy to "rescue THAT pumpkin!" from the farthest possible point of the pumpkin patch. It was SO cute.
So I got some pictures of the really cute and interesting specimens
:)
When they came back to the main patch where I was, we hunted for a big pumpkin!
And Gabriel took a picture of us.
THEN...I FOUND MY PUMPKIN!
Rob chopped it off for me and Gabriel helped
(I apologize for the side-ways video. I keep forgetting that I can't turn my phone while taping)
Rob carried it off with the one Gabriel picked out and put them in the wagon
Gabriel pulled for a while :)
THEN...we walked on to the apple orchard while Rob took care of our pumpkin weigh-in
and put them in the car.
APPLE TIME!

Gabriel carried the bag
and got to work!

We must have eaten at least 3 apples each out there. Gabriel was partial to the Honey Crisp...as I think we all were at the end. Gala were fantastic this year too.
We bought a little of both.
Seriously...this is the hugest apple ever.
I asked Gabriel to hold it, for scale.
The boo wanted to try to climb the apple tree...to no avail.
We started to head out, since we had picked our peck and were getting sick of eating apples LOL
We had a great time...and plan to make a Honey Crisp apple pie tomorrow :0)
I'll update with pictures of that perhaps?

LOVE THIS! Thanks for sharing the pictures, and the adventures. Almost like being there with you... Love the picture Gabriel got of you guys :-) So glad you got to go do that together before the baby comes. I'm sure that's a great memory for Gabriel too! HUGS!
